The La Chassaigne castle

Primarily property of Auvergnats since 1251 with Guillaume of Chassaigne, ancestor of one of the founders in 1395 of the brotherhood of "gold Apple" whose association of development of the place took again the name. The manor, beautiful example of architecture of the end of XV century strikes by the quality of its interior decoration (large Gothic gallery and its vault will intra muros). It is surrounded of English gardens in a domesticated nature which makes the charm of this place.

11th FESTIVAL of the GARDENERS
DEMONSTRATION of ENVIRONMENT in a DOMESTICATED CAMPAIGN

the 30 and May 31, 2009 in THIERS.

at THIERS, AUVERGNE.

It became an inescapable event in Auvergne, for the 11th consecutive year, the association
'' the GOLD APPLE" and the owners of the castle organize the FESTIVAL of the GARDENERS

It should be said that the framework of the gardens which surrounds the old manor is favourable with this kind of demonstration. All is made during these two days, so that the visitors feel this impression of charm and are penetrated of the spirit of the places.

Nature has its rights, we implement our means, as many others do it, to preserve it and share this will. It is, indeed, in what we orderlies and sow today that resides the hope to collect later the fruits and the just reward of a generous nature provided that we respect it and always reserve the place that it should never have lost.

Traditionally, horticulturists, nursery gardeners, artisans of art let the visitors discover their lucky finds and their know-how. More and more, the trades of '' savours and scents '' take part in this festival of nature.
It is envisaged musical animations. To the boards of the ORANGERY, will be hung works of Michele BOUDAL, an artist evoking the topic of the spirit of wine. A general decoration is envisaged besides around the wine.
A contest of bouquets preceded is also envisaged, it is opened with all.

From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. without interruption. Possible restoration on the spot.
Tariff of entry: 4 euros for the adults. Free up to 12 years. Half tariff up to 18 years.
This fee gives access to the gardens and all animations.

TOOLS AND FLOWERS EXPOSURE
Of June 6 to September 20. 14h.30 - 18 hours. Except Tuesday.
The exposures follow one another season after season in the rooms of the castle of Chassaigne.
The GOLD APPLE, association of animation and development of the places (manor and gardens) and the owners have in heart to renew the topics, for the greatest pleasure of the visitors.
Under the title '' TOOLS AND FLOWERS '' we will put in scene this year the old tools of garden and the patchworks flowered formerly manufactured in France. It will be a real pleasure to speak about these two topics.

TOOLS first, these virtuous relays between ground and men.
Nowadays, one would tend to consider the importance of the things only by the noise which they make in the world, one does not arrive whereas at not very right appreciations.
The services which the tools of gardener rendered are much undeniable than some others and yet, they seem obsolete and fallen in a quite unjust discredit.

The exceptional collection that we present was gathered by an already old man, market-gardener him even, son of market-gardening parents in Thiers. It preserved with large respect its family tools and in many others collected.
By this loan, the collector invites us to an initiatory trip in the world of the tool, unmemorable, vital and filled of humility.

As for speaking about PATCHWORKS, which we do not hesitate to raise with the row of objets d'art, even it is often the art of the poor people, it is to penetrate in the universe of the reserve and the intimacy, and there too, of humility. There is indeed no more discrete art than that which consists in making reappear with the life in a new form, to make shine in the utility, of the used fabric fragments, having already lived a first life (even several) by the simple fact them '' of granting '' in fulgurating arlequinades.

Although this work is present in all the countries of the world, we took the party to show only French parts. We have the honor to hang to our boards part of the splendid collection of one impassioned, who joined together parts coming from convents of chocolate éclairs, where it was a frequent practice, of Auvergne and other areas of France.
